The state capital region relies heavily on a network of natural streams and gravity-driven drains to manage heavy rainfall. Recent inspection reports revealed that infrastructure development projects inadvertently blocked multiple exit points of these channels.
Project developers must now deploy heavy machinery to restore the original width and depth of the streams within the next seven days or face financial penalties.
This cleanup directly secures the low-lying fields and upcoming residential zones of Guntur and NTR districts from seasonal flash floods.
By restoring the Kondaveedu Vagu and other primary channels, the administration protects vital public infrastructure and agricultural lands surrounding the capital city.
