AMARAVATI — Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced a major infrastructure push on Friday to help Andhra Pradesh achieve its ambitious target of generating 160 gigawatts of green energy.
Speaking at a high-level power sector review meeting at the State Secretariat, Naidu emphasized that modernizing the electrical grid is critical to support upcoming data centers and industrial hubs.
The state is accelerating its Green Energy Corridor Phase-III to integrate massive amounts of clean power into the regional transmission network.
Officials submitted proposals worth nearly 22,000 crore rupees to build 2,261 circuit kilometers of new transmission lines.
The plan includes setting up five massive power pooling stations at Mudigubba, Talupula, Ramayapatnam, Porumamilla, and Koppaka with a combined evacuation capacity of 9,500 megawatts.
This infrastructure will help manage 18 gigawatts of new renewable capacity, comprising 11 gigawatts of solar power and 7 gigawatts of pumped storage projects.
