AMARAVATI — Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed senior officials to design a comprehensive "Smart Mobility Plan" for the capital city. During a high-level review meeting, Naidu emphasized that Amaravati must be built with futuristic infrastructure.
The proposed transit blueprint includes a 189-kilometer Outer Ring Road (ORR) and a network of wide radial roads to prevent future traffic congestion.
Naidu instructed the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to prioritize dedicated corridors for public transport. This includes planning for an advanced metro rail system and electric bus routes to cut down on carbon emissions.
The layout will feature integrated transport hubs where train, bus, and metro networks meet. The Chief Minister told officials to study global smart cities to adopt best practices in urban transit.
He stressed that the design must accommodate rapid population growth over the next three decades without choking the city’s core zones.
