VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has assured full legal support to farmers in the Amaravati capital region, strongly criticizing the ruling NDA government for allegedly harassing landowners.
The statements came after a delegation of local farmers met the former Chief Minister at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli to submit a formal representation detailing mounting administrative pressure to surrender additional properties for the state capital project.
During his interaction with the aggrieved landowners, Jagan Mohan Reddy questioned the state government’s decision to pursue fresh land acquisition when massive portions of the 50,000 acres originally pooled for the project remain entirely vacant.
He alleged that despite significant land reserves being secured in the past, no substantial progress has materialized on the ground.
He further argued that the persistent administrative push to acquire more land is not driven by public utility, but is rather intended to inflate project budgets and financially benefit a select group of favored contractors and individuals at the expense of the public exchequer.
