AMARAVATI — The Nandyal district administration has rolled out a comprehensive 180 crore solar energy plan under the central government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
The massive green initiative aims to install rooftop solar panels across thousands of domestic households. District Collector G. Rajakumari announced that the administration will fast-track the project to transition local families toward renewable energy while significantly cutting monthly utility expenses.
The project targets the installation of solar units in over 20,000 households during its initial phases.
Under the scheme, families will receive substantial financial assistance from the central government, reducing the upfront capital required for installation.
Households opting for up to 3 kilowatts of solar capacity will benefit from a direct subsidy structure, which officials expect will drive mass adoption across both urban and rural neighborhoods in the region.
