AMARAVATI — Deputy Chief Minister Konidela Pawan Kalyan has unveiled a sweeping environmental blueprint titled "Swachha Godavari – Pavitra Pushkaralu" to systematically halt the flow of untreated domestic sewage, industrial effluents, and commercial aquaculture waste into the Godavari river.

The critical clean-up framework will directly target and monitor pollution sources across 262 identified Gram Panchayats running along the river banks.

Data from the State Pollution Control Board reveals an alarming ecological crisis, with municipalities dumping 104 million litres of raw sewage every single day.

Rural pockets add another 8.38 million litres, while commercial paper mills and aggressive aquaculture setups pump in 32 million litres and 13.24 million litres of untreated waste daily.

Heavily populated urban hubs including Rajamahendravaram, Kovvur, Narsapuram, and Tanuku stand identified as the prime contributors to this compounding crisis.
