AMARAVATI — The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an intensive sanitation campaign named Operation Clean Sweep to overhaul public waste management across all 123 urban local bodies in the state.
Running from May 23 to June 20, the initiative aims to build on public involvement from the Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra program and establish better long-term hygiene standards.
Municipal officials structured the campaign into four distinct phases to handle different sanitation issues systematically. The first week focuses on removing open garbage dumps and clearing public roads.
The second week shifts attention to clearing stormwater drains and canals to prepare urban areas for the upcoming monsoon rains and prevent waterlogging.
