AMARAVATI — The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority issued a weather warning forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across multiple districts on Monday.

Standard meteorological data indicates that a low-pressure trough over the Bay of Bengal is driving moisture into the coastal and interior regions, triggering sudden atmospheric instability.

Disaster management officials stated that the weather system will likely bring gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.

The state agency issued a yellow alert, particularly urging rural communities and farmers to stay indoors to avoid frequent lightning strikes. The affected areas include regions across north coastal Andhra, south coastal districts, and parts of Rayalaseema.

Local municipal bodies across Andhra Pradesh have deployed emergency response teams to clear drainage systems and prevent urban flooding in low-lying areas.

The state power distribution corporations have also placed technical crews on standby to address potential electricity outages caused by uprooted trees or snapped power lines.
