AMARAVATI — The Andhra Pradesh state government has firmly dismissed speculation regarding the privatisation of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.

State Transport Minister M Ramprasad Reddy announced that the public transit body will remain entirely under state control following a high-level review meeting led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The administration plans to strengthen the state transport giant by expanding fleet operations and modernising infrastructure.

As part of a massive shift toward sustainable transport, the state will introduce 3,000 new electric buses across various service routes.

The clean energy transition begins immediately with 700 electric buses scheduled to hit the roads within the next two months.

Infrastructure upgrades are underway to support the rollout, with six major bus depots undergoing conversion to handle electric vehicle operations by July.
