AMARAVATI — The Andhra Pradesh government has officially dismissed all rumors regarding the privatization of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
Transport Minister M Ramprasad Reddy announced that the state public transit network will remain completely under government ownership.
Following a high-level review meeting led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the administration committed to a major modernization plan designed to upgrade transit operations and improve commuter infrastructure.
Instead of disinvestment, the state is launching a massive green mobility transition. The transport department will deploy 700 new electric buses over the next two months to phase out aging diesel vehicles.
Infrastructure upgrades are already underway, with six major operational bus depots scheduled to be fully equipped for electric vehicle operations by July.
