CHITTOOR — The Rayalaseema regional police department has intensified its crackdown on outlawed gambling networks by conducting a mandatory counseling session for 18 individuals previously booked for distributing banned lottery tickets within the Chittoor Municipal Corporation limits and nearby villages.

Chittoor Deputy Superintendent of Police J. Venkatanarayana led the session on Saturday, ordering the offenders to permanently halt their unlawful activities and transition into legal trades.

The state government enforces a strict prohibition on lottery sales to safeguard citizens from financial distress and psychological ruin, making any violation a heavily penalized criminal offense.

The enforcement initiative aims to dismantle underground gambling rings that systematically exploit the working class and low-income households across Andhra Pradesh.

Security personnel confirmed that future violations will result in immediate detention and asset tracking under state anti-gambling statutes.
