KURNOOL: Expressing deep concern over the rising number of road accidents across Kurnool district, District Collector A. Siri on Wednesday directed officials to immediately expedite pending road safety initiatives and ensure that high-risk, accident-prone locations are secured for commuters.

The Collector, accompanied by Adoni MLA P. Parthasarathi and Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Patil, conducted a field inspection of several critical 'black spots' on the newly constructed bypass road in Adoni town.

The joint inspection team included senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), as well as the Transport, Police, and Revenue departments.

Stressing that the Andhra Pradesh government places the highest priority on public safety, Ms. Siri noted that even small delays in resolving infrastructure hazards could put lives at risk.

While the 7.5-km stretch connecting the Adoni Y-junction to the Alur bypass is fully completed, numerous vital supporting safety works remain unfinished.
