AMARAVATI — Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has ordered forest department officials to maintain a 24-hour vigil following reports of a tiger moving near human settlements in the Polavaram constituency. The tiger has recently killed livestock in the area, triggered widespread panic among residents of local villages including Kakuturu, Diwancheruvu, and neighboring tribal hamlets.

Forest officials have already set up camera traps and deployed tracking teams to monitor the movements of the big cat.

The administration has warned villagers against venturing into forest fringes alone, especially during night hours, while teams work to safely herd the animal back into deeper forest reserves.

This development impacts Andhra Pradesh directly as the targeted villages sit on the edge of major infrastructure zones and dense forest tracts, raising the risk of human-wildlife conflict during the peak summer months.

Local authorities are balancing public safety with wildlife conservation laws to prevent any retaliatory attacks on the animal.
