VISAKHAPATNAM — Senior Indian Railway Traffic Service officer Y. Balaji Kiran has officially assumed additional charge as the Chief Public Relations Officer of the newly created South Coast Railway zone.
A 2013-batch officer, Kiran takes over the critical communication portfolio alongside his ongoing primary assignment as the Deputy General Manager-cum-Secretary to the General Manager, a position he has held since November 2025.
The administrative transition comes at a definitive juncture for regional transit infrastructure. The South Coast Railway, designated as the 18th independent railway zone in the country, is scheduled to commence full operations on June 1, 2026, making Kiran the foundational voice for the zone's media strategy and public outreach during its rollout phase.
Kiran brings deep operational insight to the newly formed zone, having previously served in pivotal administrative roles across multiple regional divisions. His career portfolio includes assignments as the Senior Divisional Operations Manager for the Guntakal division, alongside tenures as the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager within both the Secunderabad and Hyderabad transit divisions.
