KADAPA — The district police department has initiated a targeted digital safety campaign to protect young professionals from cyber threats and digital stalking. Speaking to students at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Friday, Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke warned that oversharing personal details on digital platforms creates vulnerabilities that cybercriminals routinely exploit.

The interactive session forms part of 'Operation Dandayan', a specialized law enforcement initiative focused on strengthening protective networks for women and children.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that while digital communication platforms remain essential for academic and professional growth, they require strict privacy management to prevent harassment.

District data reveals a sharp rise in successful prosecutions for cybercrimes and gender-based offenses over the last 24 months, with local courts convicting 44 individuals.

The legal crackdown resulted in 15 life sentences, one 20-year prison term, and 10 mid-term sentences. Police authorities also confirmed that tracking registries have been opened for 197 individuals accused of stalking or harassment to monitor repeat offenders.
