AMARAVATI — The NTR district administration has officially rolled out the "Jaladhara" project, a comprehensive campaign aimed at desilting and rejuvenating water bodies across the region.
District Collector G Srijana inaugurated the initial phase of the drive by launching desilting works at the local irrigation tank in Guntupalli village, located within the Ibrahimpatnam mandal.
The initiative focuses on restoring the water holding capacity of rural reservoirs before the arrival of the seasonal monsoon rains.
The primary objective of the Jaladhara project is to remove accumulated silt from public tanks, which will enhance groundwater recharge and ensure a reliable water supply for local agricultural needs.
During the launch event, Collector Srijana emphasized that the removed silt, rich in organic nutrients, will be distributed directly to local farmers. Agriculturalists can transport this fertile soil to their fields to improve soil health and enhance crop yields for the upcoming sowing season.
