ONGOLE: Prakasam and Markapuram police will take stringent action against the illegal transport, cruelty, and open slaughter of cattle during the upcoming Bakrid festival, Superintendent of Police V Harshavardhan Raju announced in a press release on Wednesday.
While extending festival greetings to the Muslim community, the SP appealed to the public to comply with police instructions to maintain peace and social harmony.
To ensure strict compliance, the SP revealed that 53 special enforcement teams have been deployed across the district. These teams comprise personnel from multiple departments, including the police, animal husbandry, and revenue.
Women Police Station DSP P Sridhar has been appointed as the nodal officer to oversee operations, monitor the illegal transportation and slaughter of cattle, and prevent cruelty to animals.
