AMARAVATI — Police in Kadapa district arrested 13 individuals on Sunday for running an organized cricket betting ring. The operation led to the recovery of ₹11.34 lakh in liquid cash and the freezing of an additional ₹14.12 lakh held in associated bank accounts, bringing the total value of intercepted criminal assets to ₹25.46 lakh.

Investigators also confiscated 17 mobile phones and a tablet computer used to manage the illicit gambling pool.

The crackdown began after local law enforcement received credible intelligence about structured gambling rings operating out of Proddatur town.

Acting on these leads, a special police task force detained two primary operators, identified as Sheikh Javeed and Sheikh Jilani.

Subsequent interrogations revealed a broader digital gambling ring, leading officers to raid a makeshift operations base near the Yerraguntla Bypass road where the remaining suspects were caught in real time.
