NELLORE: Thousands of Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco farmers in SPSR Nellore and Prakasam districts are facing a major financial crisis due to a steep crash in procurement prices at major auction platforms.

Despite favorable weather conditions yielding high-quality crops this season, farmers are struggling to secure remunerative prices, prompting them to appeal for immediate state and central government intervention.

The escalating crisis has drawn swift political attention. State Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, and Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy have escalated the matter to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Additionally, Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy declared that tobacco growers challenges remain a top priority, assuring that the government will firmly stand by the farmers until fair pricing structures are implemented.
