AMARAVATI — The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry has formally requested the South Coast Railway zone to launch several new train services.
The business body emphasized that improved rail infrastructure is critical to sustaining economic growth and meeting the rising demands of daily commuters and corporate travelers within the state.
In an official memorandum addressed to the General Manager of South Coast Railway, Chamber President Potluri Bhaskara Rao outlined specific routes requiring urgent intervention.
The trade body highlighted the severe shortage of direct trains connecting key industrial hubs in Andhra Pradesh to major metropolitan areas in neighboring states.
The primary demands include extending the existing Visakhapatnam-Bengaluru and Visakhapatnam-Chennai train routes. Industry leaders noted that current seat availability fails to match the surge in passenger volume, forcing travelers to rely on more expensive road transport.
The Chamber also proposed a new intercity express running between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada to facilitate seamless transit along the state's coastal economic corridor.
