VISAKHAPATNAM — Three passengers died on the spot and seven others sustained severe injuries when an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus crashed into a stationary truck. The accident occurred near Gajuwaka in the early hours of Sunday.
The bus was heading toward the Visakhapatnam central bus station from Guntur when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Police officials stated that the truck had been parked on the roadside due to a mechanical breakdown. The impact of the collision completely crushed the left side of the bus, where the three deceased victims were seated.
Highway patrol teams and local residents rushed to the spot to pull out the passengers trapped inside the wreckage.
The seven injured passengers were immediately shifted to a nearby government hospital. Doctors report that the condition of two individuals remains critical. Traffic on the national highway was disrupted for over two hours until cranes cleared the damaged vehicles from the road.
