VISAKHAPATNAM: The district administration and city civic bodies have launched a comprehensive inspection and enhancement drive along the prominent Beach Road corridor stretching from R.K. Beach to Bheemunipatnam.
This proactive infrastructural push is designed to optimize traffic flow and accommodate the heavy influx of travelers expected when the new Bhogapuram International Airport opens next month.
With commuter volume projected to rise significantly, authorities are focusing on identifying bottlenecks, streamlining key transit sections, and establishing smooth, high-speed connectivity between the core city and the upcoming aviation hub.
A primary focus of the ongoing review by Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) officials is the reconfiguration of existing speed control measures. Over the years, numerous speed breakers were installed along the coastal route to deter reckless driving and illegal racing, enhancing safety for pedestrians and tourists.
However, because this scenic corridor will now function as a primary arterial link for airport-bound passengers, experts are systematically evaluating which speed breakers can be safely removed or modified to prevent unnecessary traffic delays without compromising public safety.
