VIJAYAWADA: The parents of Sugali Preeti, Parvathi and Raju Naik, met with former chief minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the party’s central office in Tadepalli on Tuesday. They sought justice for the brutal rape and murder case of their daughter, which occurred in 2017 under the previous TDP regime.

Expressing deep anguish, they stated that even after nine years, justice remains elusive. They accused the current N. Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government of neglecting the case, further alleging that the CBI probe into the incident was effectively stalled after the new coalition government came into power.

After hearing their concerns, Jagan Mohan Reddy assured the family that the YSRCP would stand firmly by them, pledging all possible legal and political support until justice is finally delivered.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Preeti’s mother, Parvathi, sharply criticized Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

She accused him of using their daughter's tragic case strictly for political mileage. Parvathi noted that between 2020 and 2024, Pawan Kalyan routinely raised the issue in public meetings, promising that delivering justice would be his priority upon assuming office. However, she stated that once he came into power, the family was denied appointments and forced to run from office to office in vain.
