NEW DELHI: Resident doctors have appealed for urgent intervention by the Union Health Ministry regarding the ongoing and indefinite delay in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Speciality (NEET-SS 2024-25) counselling.

The postponement has triggered a severe socio-economic crisis for thousands of medical aspirants nationwide.

In a letter addressed to the Ministry, the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) stated that highly qualified candidates across the country are facing immense distress due to the unprecedented stall in admissions.

According to the Medical Counselling Committee's (MCC) academic calendar, the super-specialty sessions were scheduled to begin on April 10, 2026.

However, even by the end of May, the seat allotment process has not commenced despite the merit list being available since January 2026. FAIMA has labeled the situation a "systemic failure," attributing the delay to administrative inertia and frequent court postponements.
