Spotify announced on Tuesday that it is rolling out narrated articles from top publications including Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, Vogue, Variety, and Vanity Fair for its audiobook users.

The strategy aims to diversify content on the platform, boost user engagement, and help Spotify better compete with AI music startups such as Udio and Suno, alongside larger podcast rivals like YouTube and Netflix.

The Swedish streaming giant will initially offer more than 650 long-form magazine articles in English. The curated collection, produced by Spotify's in-house Audiobooks team, consists of shorter-form content with each narration lasting under two hours.

Spotify said premium subscribers can access these narrated articles as part of their existing monthly audiobook allowance. Free users also have the option to buy individual articles for $1.99 each.
