AMARAVATI — Political opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh have demanded immediate intervention from the state government to resolve escalating territorial tensions along the disputed Kotia border with Odisha.
The call for action follows recent unilateral administrative survey attempts by Odisha officials in the border villages, which local residents and political leaders say infringe upon the territorial integrity of Andhra Pradesh.
Leaders across political lines have urged the administration to deploy senior officials to the area to protect local interests and maintain peace.
The Kotia cluster, consisting of over 20 villages, has been a point of contention between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha for decades.
Both states claim administrative jurisdiction over the region, which frequently leads to friction during local elections and development drives.
Opposition leaders stated that the recent escalation requires a firm diplomatic and administrative response from the capital to ensure that welfare benefits and security for the local population remain uninterrupted.
