DHARAMSHALA: Ahead of the first Qualifier, Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Arun Dhumal spoke about the future trajectory of the league, addressing key issues ranging from tournament scheduling to viewership growth.

Speaking on the prospect of expanding the IPL to a 94-game format, Dhumal explained that an ideal 10-team structure should feature nine home and nine away games for every team.

However, current constraints have prevented this expansion. "Logistical challenges and the commitment given to bilateral series are the reasons we haven't made it nine each," Dhumal stated, adding that the league would consider increasing the match count if a larger scheduling window allows for an additional two weeks.
